Happy Thanksgiving!!! We are hours away from the Midwest Tango Festival 2016 in Minneapolis, MN!! Weather is slightly overcase with a chance of flurries overnight. Weather predication for the weekend is overcast and dry, for the most part. High during the weekend is low to mid 30s so please dress accordingly!!
INFORMATION REGARDING PRIVATES WITH THE ARTISTS
We have been receiving a few inquiries about privates and availability. The answer as to whether privates will be available is yes...but a very limited number depending on which artist. Right now, Graciela Gonzales has a very limited number of privates available and only on Monday. Leonardo has a limited amount of time during the weekend. Guillermo and Mariela will be here for another night, so if you are interested in privates on Monday, please contact us immediately. Anyone interested in a private over the weekend with anyone but Graciela, PLEASE contact us now so that we can accommodate that private with a venue. All privates for each artist is $100. Thank you!!
Online registration ended last night. However, we will still be taking registrations for full festival passes tomorrow during the Welcome Milonga. Payments can be made in cash or credit. Personal checks on authorization only from the organizers.
This year, we will be having performances from our artists. They will only perform on Saturday at the the Grand Milonga, approximate time, 10p.
GUIDELINE ON ALCOHOL
Each venue has a guideline on alcohol. Friday night, BYOB, but bring enough to share (just kidding). Saturday, no alcohol is allowed at the Minnesota Opera Center. If you need alcohol that early, you aren't dancing enough! (Just kidding) Saturday night, there is an cash bar at the Gale Mansion during the Grand Milonga. THERE IS NO ATM ON SITE AND THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT. SO PLEASE COME PREPARED! Cash bar closes at 11p. Anyone sneaking their own alcohol into the Gale Mansion will be asked to leave, not necessarily politely. (Not joking) Saturday late night at DanceLife, BYO. And the Southern Theater will also have a cash bar, thus no BYO will be allowed. They will close their bar at 1a.
Minnesota has very strict laws regarding the purchase of alcohol. For example, no alcohol can be sold on Sundays. While venues like restaurants and bars are not affected, consumer purchase is almost impossible as liquor stores are banned from selling liquor on Sundays. AND, most liquor stores stop selling alcohol at 10p in Minnesota. While this may not be true of all liquor stores, rather than run into an issue, just make your purchase before Sunday before 10p. For more information regarding the sale of liquor, go to: http://minneapolis.about.com/od/lifestyles/a/minneapolisliquorlaws.htm.

Online registration has ended and we are only a holiday away from the start of the 2016 Midwest Tango Festival! The Twin Cities' tango community, as well as us, can't wait to meet and dance with everyone!!
If this is your first time on this UPDATE tab, then please make a point to scroll and read previous postings for information that might be of interest to you.
First, check out the Festival menu item and check out our vendors for this year!! With a variety of tango clothing, even for men, and shoes from Bandolera, Lunatango, and a unique style of practice shoes, start your holiday shopping now for your tango friends...or yourself! You can check out all their goods at the Minnesota Opera Center in before, in-between and after classes. The Center will open at 11a, so bring your coffee and do a little shopping before you start working!!
Next, we have been informed by the studio that their class schedule couldn't be changed so they will still be holding classes during the start of our Mixer. As a result, we have decided to push back the Mixer and the start of the Welcome Milonga. Please make note of the change...Mixer begins at 9p, Milonga begins at 10p.
Hello everyone!! We are just days away from the 5th Midwest Tango Festival hosted by Minneapolis, Minnesota. And we are very excited to see you all! A quick reminder that online registration ends this Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Registration will also be available at all the festival events, so if you miss it online, no worries!! Just come to the registration desk upon your arrival and the team will more than happy to assist you.
So...if you don't already know, Minneapolis has already experienced it's first snowfall. While it is unlikely that it will stick, it's always better to be prepared for this weather. We highly encourage all to wear winter gear, including proper footwear. We will make sure there is a place to change your street shoes to your tango shoes so they stay dry.
A really quick reminder that Friday night, Minneapolis has their Hollidazzle Festival in the park across from the Four Seasons. While our "Welcome Milonga" overlaps the timeframe of this holiday event, there really should be no issues with parking. Come a little early and partake in this event...enjoy the Minneapolis community. For more information on Hollidazzle, click on this link: Holidazzle.
OR, attend the fundraising event at the Southern Theater. Their annual "Arch Lights" holiday party is being held at the same time as our milonga. While our milonga will also be running at the same time, we wouldn't mind if you chose to support Minneapolis' arts community by stopping at the theater first. Check this link for more information: Arch Lights 2016.
Still looking for a place to crash while you are here? Send us an email and we will try and hook you up!!
We look to seeing and dancing with all of you!! Safe travels and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
